Common Ground
Intolerance of people with different lifestyles, beliefs, and any other little difference seems to be running rampant in today’s world. While fear and persecution all of all that is ‘different’ to those in power certainly isn’t anything new, it’s sad to see so many people haven’t learned over the centuries.
Even so-called spiritual ‘gurus’ who have claimed to have found a higher path beyond the structure of major religions sometimes gather together to form elitist groups who look disdainfully at ‘the unenlightened population’.
As far as I am concerned, if you have that sort of elitism in your heart, then you are not on a true path of spirituality.
Before you start calling me a lovey dovey tree hugging pacifist (smiling), I am not here to preach at you about loving everyone and every thing no matter what they do to you.
In the world we live in, I believe acceptance is more powerful (and more reasonable to expect of people) than forced love. I don’t believe most of us know enough of what love is to ‘love thy neighbor’. Acceptance, however, is a step towards love and is something we can most definitely learn.
Given how similar we all are – we’re all human, whether we decide to have sex with a man or a woman, believe in God or Allah or Amun-Ra, or believe everything has a spirit – it’s not exactly a surprise that we point out the differences to distinguish ourselves from the group.
However, using differences as a way to persecute each other is where we stray from the path of light and acceptance.
A good first step for finding your spiritual path is to identify your prejudices and examine why you have them. Perhaps in examining them you can find and root out false believes and taught prejudices.

Is there a God?
The short answer to this one is NO…..
You’ve not seen it, and everybody you know has not touched it, yet you still believe in it? Amazing…..How many people do you know that have claimed to be able to “talk to God” can actually describe this piece of mythology!
AND I can just hear you say…”OH, how narrowminded you are.” Well think of this…..FAITH is supposed to be the key, right? We are all told that we must have faith, it’s a matter of faith, and then belief will follow…BUNK
LUCKY engineers don’t build bridges on the same applied logic…”Oh, I’ve got a lot of FAITH that this structure will hold and not fall….”
Wake up…..
Why can’t you believe in HUMAN NATURE instead, and while we are at it, BAD people have just as big a role tp play in society as the good ones. Confused? well let me spell it out for you….If we were all GOOD, there would be no point of reference, no RELATIVITY to compare oneself by, so, we need BAD people in this world of ours, if only to let people justify themselve to themselves.
I suppose you believe in aliens as well, and that dolphins can talk, and any other of the trashy necromancy that a sprirtualist comes out with.
Let me tell you a story of spiritualists…..I had a good friend….he was introduced to a girl by our work mates, thought they would make a nice match. He knew her for 8 weeks, or thereabouts….she had two kids….one day, against my protests, we went out to a local bar…they had an argument, she walked home….arguing on the side of the road, she didn’t look at the car coming round the corner. Stepping out onto the road, she was picked up by the car, flung over the bonnet. Her feet were caught up in the windshield wipers, so her body dragged down onto the road, scraping her head for many meters…..I saw her get put into the ambulance, with that same look of death I had seen a thousand times at the Abbatoir we worked at. Poor girl…
The spiritualist group that took over my friend life from then on comvinced him he could meet and talk to his lost love again…they lied….all they wanted to do was get him into bed….I sugessted to him that this group and all others like them were not only phony, but terrible at it too….he gradually woke up to this, and has since, to my knowledge, renounced the whole thing as CRAP….you have to agree…
Spiritualists everywhere are so full of themselves and their beliefs, so full of the fact that they have “the way”…idiots…
I’m afraid you qualify in the same catagory…like it or not….stop believeing things because other people tell you so…after all, until science recently made it possible, the only way you could tell who your father is was because your momma told you so…
Get the picture?….I BET you don’t reply to this one, or probably use the phrase “in denial’ like all phony’s do…GIVE IT UP

Oh and I see your blog name is AURA…how phony…..I use the name my mother gave me, needing no silly tags from people like yourself to give me a sence of identity…
I BET you haven’t got the guts to reply to this one….spiritualists never have…

Another thing about that poor Girl (Heidi)….she was a DIRECT DECENDANT of the first pilgrims to arrive on the MAYFLOWER….her mother and father lived in a house that was made to the specifications of those houses…wooden pegs and all! I HAD TO STAND in front of her parents at her WAKE and try to explain to them exactly WHAT a mother of two was doing out at that time of the morning….
Spritualists and spiritualism make me sick….PHONIES….
If you saw something you couldn’t explain you would die of shock!
WAKE UP TO YOURSELF…get your head out of the clouds and start to live in the three dimensions that we have to…..leave all the other CRAP ALONE….you’ll find out when you die….so why concern yourselves with matters that you understand nothing of?….If Stephen Hawking can’t explain it, my friend, then how can YOU…
FOOLS

Thank you for your comments.
I have never said on here that I believe in god/God/goddess, etc.
I agree with you that the so-called ‘bad’ people of society have a role to play as well. Without bad (and without good) we wouldn’t have a spectrum to reference.
Yes, I believe dolphins can talk - to each other. Just like birds chirp to each other and wolves howl and bark at each other.
I use a different name because I don’t care to have people judge me because I’m exploring spirituality. Yes, I say exploring because I have repeatedly said on this site that I am not a guru or a leader. I am merely exploring the worlds of spirituality and religions.
I am certainly not asking anyone to believe in me or what I’m saying because I think it’s disgusting when people try to make themselves into gods, and I certainly don’t have enough knowledge to be guiding anyone. I have said from the beginning, this is a path of self discovery for me.
As for the ’spiritualist’ group you mention, that’s the sort of thing I’m talking about in this post when I say “Even so-called spiritual ‘gurus’ who have claimed to have found a higher path beyond the structure of major religions sometimes gather together to form elitist groups who look disdainfully at ‘the unenlightened population’.”
I’ve seen many things I can’t explain. That’s why I’m looking around to see if there are any answers to be had. I’m not trying to be Stephen Hawking or you, but I spent too many years letting people dictate my actions and feelings to stop taking a look around because one person tells me to.
Again, I don’t claim to be anything other than I am - a person taking a look around. I am not a leader. I am not a guru. I am not here to solve anyone’s problems. I am not trying to form some sort of congregation.
Thank you for your thoughts.

If more people like you were involved in the whole “new age” thing….then maybe we could come up with a better world for all of us….
Thanks mate….

Poor Heidi….I was the last person she showed any affection to on that night…
A spiritualist that she consulted noticed a “crack” in her aura….at EXACTLY the same spot that her poor head hit the road…
I sang her favourite song that night…
Mat and I got down on our knees and asked for something to help….nothing did….she died on the road right there in front of us..
The whole thing still haunts me to this day…

She should have got an opportunity to at least say goodbye to her two children….we took it away from her, that night….
Guilt is such a terrible thing….

Quote from the above…
“A good first step is to identify your predjudices and examine why you have them…”
How right you are….

I am by no means a saint and have my own prejudices as well due to events that have happened in my past, so please believe me when I say I understand why you are against spiritualists.
There was a time I was very against a religious group because of my experiences, but I realized that even that specific group was made up of individuals and they hadn’t all hurt me. Just some. If I wanted to continue on hating them all for the actions of a few, I would eventually be hating at least half the world starting that philosophy.
I think I am disgusted by religious/spiritual leaders who abuse their ‘authority’ more than any else because these so-called leaders hold so much in their hands. Things that are precious and often vulnerable - hope, peace, purpose, meaning. Abuse of those things can leave people so utterly broken, and yet these people abuse them all the same.
They often teach shame and guilt as a way to control their followers. They use negative feelings, impulses and emotions to control. Their world is a world without grey areas. You are with or against, you are good and pious or a down and dirty betrayer of the belief.
Not all religions, religious groups, spiritual groups, etc are like this, but even if only one was - and there are plenty more than one - it would still be too many.
Alas, I have rambled on quite a bit more than I thought I would! I’m sorry for that, but it is a subject I’m passionate about.
March 3rd, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Not a ramble at all…made perfect sence.
One must be passionate about something in this life.
The more you post the more RELAVENT you become….
My hat goes off to you for your disarming, positive approach.
“No man crosses the same river twice, for the river has changed, and so has the man.”
March 3rd, 2008 at 5:49 pm
That is a lovely quote. Thank you for putting it up.
As for my approach, I am passionate about a lot of things. I have always figured it’s often harder to be/find positive than it is to be/find negative, so there’s always a challenge there every day, should one choose to see it as such.

My freind for not so many weeks HEIDI was a spiritualist…..
Her relatives live in a re-enactment village of MAYFLOWER decendents……they live basically as her decendents did…..
If you could contact them (I am not in the United states) you may find that what I tell you of the night she died is true….
I have not met any spiritualist until now with your great attitudes and outlook on life…
Contact these people, just for me, and let them know that there are peopel who still remember what happened to her….
She would be proud of you……
I’ll never forget the look in her eyes when they put her into the ambulance….she was already GONE….
Maybe, just maybe, you may be able to do what I cannot….
For now, may your website grow and attract people of all kinds…we all have something to offer one another, whether we agree or not…
We can all find COMMON GROUND….
Thankyou AURA….

My attitudes are only ‘great’ in the eye of the beholder, but thank you for your comments.
I am not located where it would be convenient to contact them either.
