Is God for Real?

If you’ve patiently read through earlier posts in The Birth of Religion, What is Religion? and Original Scripture? Or Hoax? you may be wondering about how I feel about God. You could be a bit puzzled about whether any of the information presented above has any relevance to a Universe with God in it. I think it does.
In my view, the God of the Bible, the Torah and Koran is a peculiarly limited being who has some rather serious flaws. And the universe He purportedly created has some serious questions to be asked if it is as described.
I brushed on the psychological flaws of the biblical God earlier – it is a strange being indeed that claims to Love unconditionally and then puts the condition of worship or die forever on those he loves.
It is a rather viscious attitude to take a nomad tribe in the wilderness and lead them out to destroy nations whose sweat and blood had built up a civilization.
It is a petulant child who creates a fallible race and then puts a temptation in their way that he knows in advance they will fall for and then condemns not only them but their descendants forever to a life outside paradise.
It doesn’t sound a lot like a supreme deity of Love who would allow a palace revolution in the first place, then allow the loser to go commit depredation among the helpless victims of the Tree of Knowledge plot in the second instance, and allow things to continue downhill until he sends a flood to destroy virtually everyone alive. In reading the bible, there isn’t a lot of effort put out by God before the time of Noah. He pretty much lets a race go downhill from their initial failure to obey His Command until he decides to destroy them.
