Listening Closely
Sometimes when people want to talk to us, do we really, really listen to them? Or do we just “wait” for them to stop so that we can go on about our way and get fininshed with what we were doing?
A major part of communicating is listening and in order to be good at talking we must be good at listening too. When God speaks to us, it is essential that we listen not just with our natural ears but with our spiritual ears as well. He speaks to us in SO many different ways and at different times. If we aren’t listening to Him, we could actually miss something crucial.
Practice this the next time you speak with God. Say one or two things first. Don’t go right into “request mode” first. Just listen closely and carefully for that still, small voice. See if you can detect anything in your spirit. Our lives are so full of overload, that it is often very hard to detect sensitivity in our lives. Everyone and everything is vying for our attention. Who wins?
Sit still and listen carefully. God will talk to you.
