Smile and Be Happy
Do you know that arching your lips to mimic a smile or forcing yourself to smile can actually make you feel happy?
This is a technique I found out years ago.
When I’m down, of course, all things negative come to mind.
I tend to dwell on all the bad things that could possibly happen. I expect the worst.
One time, I got so fed up with my sad thoughts that I sat in front of the mirror and forced myself to smile. I repeated this over and over again.
Until, I noticed, I actually felt happy inside. Then wonderful memories, funny anecdotes came rushing to my head. Before I knew it, I was surprisingly laughing.
When you smile you will notice its positive effect not only to yourself but also to the people all around you. The wonderful thing is - a Smile is for free. Yet, its influence is immense.
The act of Smiling is in itself an antidote to unhappiness. Never let anything or anybody take away your reason to SMILE!

I’ve tried this before but just end up feeling stupid when putting on a fake smile. I’m sure it can work, but feeling stupid makes me feel sad again so it’s a bit of a vicious circle.

Dave,
just be patient. try to think the things that will make you happy. don’t smile around people so you won’t feel stupid. that’s what i do.

It also takes more muscles to frown than to smile. So it even takes less expelled energy to smile. Thanks for the article!
